Our School

Jemez Day School is the elementary learning environment for the Jemez Pueblo youth. Our educational program focuses on grades K-6, introducing students to the classroom environment and guiding them through reading, language arts, math and science. Our students thrive in a safe and nurturing environment where they receive mental, social and emotional support. All Eagles are prepared for the following academic levels and beyond.

Our curriculum preserves and protects the Native language, culture and heritage of the Jemez people. Our dedicated teachers and staff encourage the Towa language, culture and traditions to provide students with a well-rounded Native education. Jemez Day School helps students develop into knowledgeable, responsible and mature leaders by implementing the Jemez traditions into the curriculum.

The character of the Jemez Day School Eagles:

  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Persistence
  • Hard work
  • Leadership
  • Self-reliance

Teachers are committed to promoting and modeling reading for enjoyment and reading to learn. Developing reading habits enhances their intellectual curiosity, reading comprehension and overall thirst for knowledge. Our community of learners becomes proficient or advanced in all New Mexico Standards-Based Assessments.

Jemez Day School recognizes the unique needs of students and gives every student the tools and resources they need to reach their fullest potential. Our Eagles develop into lifelong learners and problem solvers who can apply their academic knowledge to real-life situations. We are beginning the learning process, and we take pride in preparing our Eagles for their brightest futures.

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)

During the 2023-24 school year, Jemez Day School implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students every advantage with integrated applications, such as personalized and assessment-based math and reading curriculum, Native language and culture educational programs, and accelerated learning strategies for our tailored instruction. Every one of our students benefits from dynamic teaching tools that use state-of-the-art resources. Jemez Day School’s team of dedicated educators is committed to the growth and development of your children - tomorrow’s leaders.
